Conversion of Attic Space into 3 Distinct Lofts

In many traditional Lisbon buildings, there is often an unused area between the top floor slab and the roof — the attic space known locally as águas furtadas.

Frequently, these areas remain abandoned for years, lacking the minimum living conditions. Our challenge in this project was to unlock the potential of this forgotten space and transform it into three modern, fully equipped lofts — each one functional, stylish and ready to be lived in.

From unused structure to three self-contained, character-filled homes

Before construction began, we ensured all legal requirements were met and secured the necessary approvals for expansion.

Our team was responsible for the full technical development and execution: structure, thermal and acoustic insulation, water and sewage networks, electrical systems, air conditioning — everything designed with comfort, safety and performance in mind.

Each loft was developed with a distinctive personality:

• Loft A — soft, romantic atmosphere

• Loft B — industrial edge, raw textures and balance

• Loft C — bold, colourful and contemporary, with a pop-art spirit

All furniture was custom-designed, and each appliance was carefully selected to ensure durability, comfort and visual harmony.

The result?

Three independent micro-apartments, each with everything needed for everyday living: kitchen, bathroom, living space, sleeping area and built-in storage.
